Why the VAT column matters

Most clubs, societies and small charities are not VAT registered, so they cannot reclaim it. That makes VAT a real cost to you rather than an accounting entry.

The good news is that leaflets, flyers and programmes are normally zero rated. The catch is that certain specifications lose the relief. Paper of 250gsm or heavier. Anything larger than A4. Anything used to gain admission. Anything carrying a discount voucher. And in some cases a laminated cover intended to be kept.

We point this out on your quotation. Occasionally it means recommending a slightly different specification that saves you several hundred pounds for no visible difference.

Common questions

About our pricing

Why does the VAT column matter so much?

Most clubs, societies and small charities are not VAT registered, so they cannot reclaim it. That makes VAT a real cost rather than an accounting entry. Leaflets and programmes are normally zero rated. Banners, signage and all design services are standard rated at 20 per cent.

What loses the zero rating?

Paper of 250gsm or heavier, anything larger than A4, anything used to gain admission such as an entry ticket, anything carrying a discount voucher, and in some cases a laminated cover intended to be kept. We point this out on your quotation.

Do you offer credit terms?

Not in the first year. First job is payment in full for print only, or a 50 per cent deposit where design is included with the balance due before print release. Returning customers pay 50 per cent up front.
